February, 18th 2010 - Colonizing Po Valley

I'm back, O trustworthy disciples, with scrumptious news!
These last few months have been and are still filled with thousands of things to do. After having happily ended the official presentation of the Leo&Lou comic book at Betty&Books (thankyou everyone for coming!), the "L&L experience" troupe and I landed in Romagna, where we presented the book at L'Eternauta and the Circolo Quintet in Ravenna. Thankyou thankyou and thankyou again to my cocitizens in Ravenna for the hearty support they gave me!
I also spent a very long and extremely pleasant sunday with my friends of the Bimbo Project rolling a series of short films inspired by Leo&Lou - we'd like to present them to some big fish in the television business... I'm not going to add anything. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. All of them. Hands and feet.
Don't miss our special appearance at Spazio Indue in Vicolo Broglio in Bologna, saturday 20th of February. More dates to follow, stay tuned in!

December, 14th 2009 - Presentation of the comic book at Betty & Books, Bologna

Here I am, with a great new event you just can't miss!
On wednesday, December 16th, I’ll be waiting for you starting at 19.00? at Betty&Books, in Via Rialto 23/A in Bologna, for the official presentation of the "Leo & Lou" comic book and exposition of some original plates of the comic. During the evening there will be a theatrical performance inspired by the book and realized by my gang of crazy friends and me, with Sara Kaufman and Vittorio Montipò playing Lou and Leo, and yours truly mixing music between a sketch and the other. There will also be free food and drinks. You simply cannot miss it! Also, you can read my interview for Lo Spazio Bianco here.

October, 13th 2009 - Many many news

Ciao everybody!
I know three long months passed by since last time I updated the website, but I have a very good reason this time: I made it! I published my first comic book. You can finally buy the book that collects Leo & Lou 's first 50 strips from the website www.ilfoglioletterario.it or www.ibs.it or by ordering it in a bookshop near you. Or you can also order it writing me an email.
Many many other things happened in the past months, some nice and some sad: my beloved hedgehog died misteriously (farewell, Ciccio, I love you!), I quit smoking, I suddenly fell in love and just as suddenly fell out of love, I decided I needed to live alone and found a new wonderful apartement and rented it.
Therefore right now I am in the middle of my book promotion AND organizing a move! Isn't that amazing? On top of everything I am also writing a short comic about my holidays in Sardinia. I called the story "Finding Silvio". Soon I'll post it. I'll come back soon with news about where I am promoting my book. Keep in touch!

June, 26th 2009 - Rainy June

Hello there! It's been a while, uh? Summer arrived in Italy, even though it keeps raining every freaking weekend. Of course, this is the year I started practicing ourdoors sports, of course… Ok, never mind
Rain or not, summer holidays are getting closer as well and even though I took a trip to Ecuador not less than 2 months ago, I'm planning another 2 nice vacations: 3 days in Amsterdam to visit my dear friend Dallas and her boyfriend Jae, and one week in Sardinia (I've never been before!) The point is that after reading all about the starlettes parties in Berlusconi's villa, I relised that I just HAD to go there and hit on him. This is my chance to become finally rich! Maybe I'm a little too old for Papi though...we'll see.
Yesterday Michael Jackson died. Poor thing, I'm really really sorry cuz I used to be a huge fan when I was a kid. Now that I’m grown up (or am I?) I couldn’t leave him alone, could I? so here's a comic strip on him! And here's also a new website I did for my company at work.
Agata tired now. 3.30 am. Must sleep. Zzz.

May, 17th 2009 - Me, myself and I

Guess what! The swine flu failed. The world didn't end. Humanity survives. People still have to go to work, make money and find a reason to live their lives meaningfully. Lucky me, I found my way: I draw! Ok, this might not be the universal answer to the existential dilemma that causes constant pain to us all fragile souls, but believe me, it helps. You know what I recently found is also helpful? Climbing. I am not the sporty type - I actually considered myself the antichrist of sports until I went to Ecuador and practiced a little of this amazing sport. And I really enjoy doing it, almost as much as I like drawing. The only negative aspect about it is that there have to be at least two people to climb – whereas with drawing, I can do it by myself (and that's one of the main reasons why I love it so much). Anyway, back to us: new pics in the Illustration section! You can see some random self portraits I drew across the years, and two illustrations called "Le jeux sont fait" and "Naked woman". Yes, I like drawing naked women, is there a problem with that? Of course not. Ok, gotta go now, it's late and I still have to watch Lost's season finale...Namaste!

April, 28th 2009 - We are all gonna die.

Wow, more than a month since my last update. Time seriously flies when you have fun! I have to say I have a good excuse since I was in Ecuador for 2 weeks, visiting my cousin Emma (one of the two twins of the comic I told you about, remember? You better be paying attention. I want you to keep up with updates, ok?). Anyway she now lives in Quito, working for a NGO, and I was lucky enough to save sufficient money to go visit her in this amazing country! I'm too lazy to tell you all about the wonderful places I've been to and things I have done, so I drew a quick comic strip that sums my vacation up. You can see it here, and guess what: it's in english, horray!
One more thing: while I'm writing you, the world is going crazy with the swine flu. Two days ago medias started talking about these sudden suspicious deaths in Mexico and United States caused by this new terrible desease that supposedly is going to become pandemic, or maybe it already is since today I read they spotted some infected people in Australia and Europe, too. "Oh, well" my thought was, "We are all gonna die anyway, I might as well remember the moment with a new satire comic." And that's exactly what I did.

March, 24th 2009 - Witches are back

With the new season let's open a new subsection of Comics: VIGHNETTE (in italian only, sorry)! From now on you'll be able to see here my serene and placid approach to politics, society and its habits, under the form of sweet little comic strips.
The last born is the one you can see here on the right, also published on the satire website Mamma!
Against Ratzinger and his opposition to condoms distribution in Africa.
Against Vatican that keeps interfering in the lives of millions of citizens of a supposed non-religious country with moralism, homophobia, euthanasia etc, hiding its uncomfortable and terrible shames.
Against religions as tools of mass control.

March, 16 2009 - I so love spring

My domestic hedgehog woke up from hibernation, therefore happy Spring! Yes, I have a hedgehog. And no, I didn't steal it from the woods. One day he appeared in my backyard out of the blue and I kept it. His name is Ciccio. Anyways.
I'm here again to update the site, with a new interesting link.
The blog Ciucci (that's for pacifier in italian), run by Marta Larsoniana Cerizzi from Lo Spazio Bianco, posts works by italian cartoonists and illustrators in their early ages: they say that it’s possible to see an author’s style and influence by comparing past and present art.
So for this occasion I dug into my memory trunk and took out a comic I drew back in far 1992, when I was 12. It's called "Twins" and it's about two identical twins and their family. Saying I was inspired by Peanuts and Calvin & Hobbes would be daring (since I was basically plagiarizing them!), but reading "Twins" today I realized how inclined I already was to elaborate stories based on a neurotic dualism...the truth probably is that I am skyzophrenic.
